I am happy to say (brag?) that I got to see Avenue Q in 2003 right after it opened on Broadway with the original cast.
Which was right before it won a few Tony's...
Now 15 years later, it's wrapping up in spring 2019.
It's really cool to see that a puppet show that's both parody and tribute to Sesame Street last that long on and off Broadway. The show has been an inspiration to many puppeteers. And when done right the local productions can bring new puppeteers to the art.
Hoping to catch it again on a tour sometime...
